This site is dedicated to the memory of John Lee.

John Lee was born in Barrow in Furness on May 13, 1946. He is much loved and will always be remembered by all his friends and family.

John Bernard Lee was born on the 13th May 1946 in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria, to parents Bernard and Veronica Joan and was later brother to his only sister Gillian.
The family had a Royal Naval background, John’s father was a Sublieutenant in the Fleet Air Arm when he met Veronica Joan who was a Wren. They moved around the UK many times which was a continued theme throughout the rest of Johns life.
John attended the Newport High School for Boys from 1957 until 1962 and then started his first job as a Lab Assistant at British Nylon Spinners in Pontypool.
Throughout his early adulthood he became very active in the Youth Hostelling Association and his love for the Brecon Beacons and the Lake District remained with him throughout his life.
Continuing on his travels in 1966 John began work as an Assistant Physicist at Gillette Industries in Isleworth, Middlesex where he met his wife Carole to whom he proposed after only 10 days. His proposal was met by surprise by Carole to which John responded
“Don't look so shocked someone had to ask you sometime!” (Carole was only 18 at thetime).
They married in 1967 and were blessed with two children Jonathan and Vanessa and later in life his Grandchildren Jade and Harrison.
During his time at Gillette John suddenly realised science wasn't for him and being the enigma he's always been, decided he wanted to become an AA patrolman and despite his best efforts it came to light that this wasn't going to be the best career change, especially as we learnt later that his van had to be rescued from the banks of the river Thames on two separate occasions.
Finally discovering a love for computers he taught himself programming and kickstarted an almost lifelong career within the computer industry. In the latter part of his working life John decided it was once again time for change and combining his love of walking and always being security conscious he became Security Officer at Barclaycard Northampton until his retirement in 2011.
Throughout his life John continually battled with Ill health, however he was still able to pursue many hobbies namely, hill walking, rock climbing, guitar playing, archery, master of DIY to name but a few and in 2007 he became a member of the lay Buddhist organisation SGI which enabled John to transform many difficulties throughout his life.

In Summary
John Bernard Lee our very own Enigma a person of puzzling and contradictory character loved by us all. Au revoir
